Rae Scott is an author/poet and mother from Baltimore, MD. Her literary journey began in January 2021 after creating a bookstagram account to stay occupied while quarantining and caring for her newborn and toddler at the height of the pandemic. After two traumatic childbirth experiences, Rae suffered through postpartum depression but she channeled her loneliness and depression into writing poetry which eventually evolved into Through Blood and Becoming. Rae hopes this book will bring awareness to the inadequacies in America's maternal health care system and advocates for an improved system of support for struggling mothers and mothers-to-be.

Rae uses her bookstagram account @poetrae.reads21 to share books by BIPOC authors and to celebrate black literature. She is a book club coordinator for the Women's Wellness & Empowerment Community @SoLoveSoul. Rae is also working on a collection of children's books, which is set to debut at the end of 2022.
